Long Beach has a temperate climate. Days in Long Beach are mostly sunny, as in Southern California in general. Inland Long Beach can be a bit warmer than directly along the coast. During summer months, low clouds and fog can develop overnight and blanket the area some mornings. The fog usually clears by the afternoon and a coastal breeze keeps temperatures generally mild. Long Beach does have different weather patterns than coastal communities to the north or south, in part because of its location just east of the Palo Verdes Peninsula as well as its south facing coastline.
