Your time is valuable, spend it giving back to those in need.
Volunteer in Long Beach this holiday season. It will warm hearts and feed the souls of many people in our community. Here are a just a few organizations that need your help.
Food Forward fights hunger and reduces waste by finding uses for extra produce that otherwise would have been thrown away. They get their produce from backyard fruit trees, public orchards, and farmers markets. The food that they recover is donated to different hunger-fighting agencies across 8 Southern California Counties. Locally they go to the Long Beach Southeast/Marina Farmers Market and are always looking for volunteers. You can view the calendar and sign up here: https://foodforward.org/volunteer/sign-up-to-volunteer/.
Operation Teddy Bear
Operation Teddy Bear provides over 4,000 bags filled with books, educational supplies, and wellness tools to local first-grade students. These donations help give children a chance in finding academic success because they do not have access to the supplies that their peers’ families can afford. Volunteers can help by packing and delivering bags, and also interacting and reading to the children in their classroom.

MOWLB prepares and delivers two nutritionally balanced meals per day at a low cost for people who need to remain in their own homes due to age or illness. Especially over the holidays and when it starts getting chilly around Long Beach, having someone deliver a warm and healthy meal is very important. Long Beach Animal Care Services
ACS is on a mission to serve, protect, and shelter homeless companion animals. They work towards placing animals into humane environments and also do a great job in promoting responsible pet ownership to help reduce overpopulation. Ronald McDonald House Long Beach
Ronald McDonald House is a place where families can stay together while caring for a critically ill child. It’s never an easy task to witness the pain and struggles of being the caretaker of a sick child, but the holidays always bring along so many emotions and memories of healthier times. Over the years, hundred of Ronald McDonald House volunteers have helped in a variety of ways, including one-time group cooking and baking for the families, helping staff with special House events, and helping support day-to-day House operations and projects. AIDS Food Store Long Beach
AIDS Food Store is the longest-serving HIV/AIDS food provider in Southern California and has been in operation since 1985. The organization helps assure that people in the Long Beach area living with HIV/AIDS disabilities are never without food, love, and support. Also, the AIDS Food Store president David Fernandez was severely injured in a biking accident in late October of this year so they can use all the love and support they can get this year. Volunteers are needed for the Grocery Distribution Days on select Tuesdays or Saturdays, or at one of their special events. Learn more on their website: http://www.aidsfoodstore.org/home.html.
Fix Long Beach
Fix Long Beach is a non-profit that provides spay and neutering services along with community education to our community. Spaying and neutering are one of the best ways we can reduce the animal overpopulation crisis in shelters. Fix Long Beach sends out mobile spay and neuter clinics to different parks around the city and provides safe surgery from licensed veterinarians at a very affordable cost. Volunteers can help them set up and run their monthly events.
