Virginia Country Club / Los Cerritos

The Virginia Country Club area of Long Beach lies north of the 405 and east of the 710 freeways, in the northwestern part of the city. It is also west of Long Beach Blvd. and south of 47th St. The various neighborhoods within Bixby Knolls are all found nearby. The Virginia Country Club is one of the nicest and best-kept secrets in Long Beach. This area features broad streets and large, stately homes. Homes at the southern end of the neighborhood sit on lots around 6,000 square feet, while the homes up north, closer to the actual country club, sit on lots up to 12,000+ square feet. The architectural style and dates of homes built varies widely in this area, but includes beautiful examples of Craftsman, Tudor, and Mediterranean styles. There is also a small gated section within this area named La Linda, with homes that were built in the 1920s-1940s. The neighborhood gets its name for the Virginia Country Club, a private golf course at the north end of the tract. It is also home to the Rancho Los Cerritos, a historic site featuring one of the few remaining two-story adobes in California. There are great schools, restaurants, and shopping in and around this area as well.
