La Marina Estates

The La Marina Estates neighborhood is a small tract of homes just east of California State University Long Beach. It is tucked just south of Atherton Street and east of Palo Verde, with Anaheim Road to the south and the Los Cerritos Channel to the east. Surrounding neighborhoods include Los Altos, College Park Estates, and Bixby Hill. This small area features 245 homes on larger lots than in many other parts of Long Beach – typically 7,600 to 10,000 square feet. Homes built on the northern three streets were custom-built and typically a bit larger than the homes on the southern half of the neighborhood. All of these residences were primarily built in the 1950s, though many have gone through remodels and additions since then. La Marina Estates is conveniently located near the shops and restaurants in Los Altos. This neighborhood also has a huge sense of community pride. Residents not only live next to each other, but together. Neighbors can be seen out walking dogs together, participating in book clubs and charity events, and having cook-outs while their kids play together. It is the perfect balance of big-city life with a classic small-town feel.
