It is surrounded by the cities of Compton, Paramount, Bellflower, and Lakewood as well as the Long Beach neighborhoods of Bixby Knolls. The border lines are a bit jagged, but they roughly follow Long Beach Blvd. to the west, Downey Ave. to the east, 70th Street to the north, and a southern diagonal line from Virginia Country Club to the Lakewood Regional Medical Center. The North Long Beach area, along with the Westside and Poly High neighborhoods, is one of the city’s most affordable neighborhoods. Some parts of North Long Beach feature classic Spanish Colonial homes with a vast variety represented throughout the area. This is a predominately residential and working class area of Long Beach. Many families live here and have easy access to great schools. There is shopping, restaurants, and many parks including De Forrest Park and Houghton Park. Since the 710 and 91 freeways go through this area, residents are in a great location for everything Southern California has to offer.
