The Poly High neighborhood of Long Beach is one of the city’s most affordable areas. Its borders are made up of Long Beach Blvd. to the west, Cherry Ave. to the east, Anaheim St. to the south, and a diagonal line that runs from about Long Beach Blvd/25th Street to Cherry Ave/19th Street. It is just north of downtown Long Beach and southwest of Signal Hill. The Poly High neighborhood features a variety of architectural styles, including Craftsman, California Bungalows, and Colonial Spanish. Many of the homes were built between 1900 and the 1930s. In addition to single-family homes, there is a mix of multi-family units and apartments. Within the northern part of the Poly High area is the small Sunrise Historic District, which has a similar feel to that of Carroll Park. The Poly High neighborhood is home to amny parks such as Chittick Field Park and MLK Jr. Park, as well as Long Beach Polytechnic High School, for which the area was named.
