March Real Estate Market Update

shannonjones Featured Articles , Real Estate Leave a Comment

The start of the year ushered in a wave of good news about a hot stock market, higher wages and an active home sales environment. At the same time, housing prices have continued to rise, and the low inventory situation and affordability crunch has been particularly hard on first-time buyers struggling to get into the market. Nevertheless, buyer activity is easily outpacing seller activity in much of the country, culminating in relatively quick sales and low supply. Demand has remained strong so far this year. Unemployment has reached pre-recession levels, and Americans remain optimistic about finding quality employment. This matters …

Spring Shaping Up to Be a Strong Seller’s Market

Real Estate Market Road Signs Point to A Seller’s Market Homes sales were strong in Long Beach in January, with the median price of a single family home at $580,000, up 12.3% from January 2016. Total closed sides of single family homes in Long Beach were at 257 for the month, down 9.5% from January 2016. However, this may be in part a reflection of the extremely low inventory in the area. As of January 2017, there was just a 1.7 month supply of homes for sale, down 26.1% from the previous January. The low inventory combined with high demand …

The end of 2016 saw a lot of beginnings and endings in Long Beach, with the prospect of a new development at Rancho Los Cerritos among them. The expansion will be in the form of a new 1930s style cottage to house some of their administrative needs and open more of the original building to display. While designs for the cottage have yet to be released and additional fundraising will be necessary to complete the project, the groundbreaking …

Why Sell My Home Now and Not Next Spring?

shannonjones Featured Articles Leave a Comment

As December rolls around, some would-be home sellers assume they’ve missed the opportunity to sell their home during the winter. “I guess I’ll have to wait to sell my home until the spring,” becomes the mantra for many. Yet does that really make sense? We know that the price of any item (including residential real estate) is determined by “supply and demand.” If many people are looking to buy an item and the supply of that item is limited, the price of that item increases. Here’s the biggest reason to sell your home now: According to the National Association of Realtors …

The lagoon is getting a facelift, but that’s not all… The Colorado Lagoon was once a flourishing part of the historic Los Cerritos Wetlands and remains a habitat for various animals and plants. Despite so many drastic environmental changes over the years, the saltwater lagoon is still an important retreat to many fish and jellyfish and it’s a rest stop for all kinds of migrating birds year after year. Lately though, that natural scene has  been …
