Best Places for Seafood in Long Beach

Summer is right around the corner, and there’s no better time to get some fresh and delicious seafood in Long Beach. Whether you’re in the mood for sushi, today’s freshest catch, raw oysters, or anything in between, there’s a local restaurant serving up some of the best.

Roe

Could Roe possibly the best place for a wide variety of fresh seafood in Long Beach? One could definitely make that argument. From appetizers like Bacon Wrapped Mahi, Crab Croquettes, and Rockfish Ceviche, to entree items like 7-Spice Market Collar, Kabayaki Glazed Seasonal Fish, and Plancha Striped Seabass, along with fun sides like Chilled Soba Noodles, plus a full Sushi menu, Roe is sure to satisfy your seafood craving.

Plus, their drink menu is spectacular, the wine selection is lovely, and service is always on point. If you’re looking for something less formal or more suited for lunch, check out Roe Xpress.

At Sushi

This is one of the newest Sushi spots on 2nd Street, and so far it’s getting rave reviews! The owner Mr. Song has a couple of other restaurants in the area as well. The decor is very “seafood” related, with large fish sculptures on the wall and other nautical decorations throughout. The wait staff is both very knowledgeable and friendly. They have a few unique rolls that you’ve never seen before too, which is always refreshing to see especially if you’re used to your “regular” sushi restaurants’ menu. The Baked Salmon Roll is a must-try, along with the 5327 Roll, and 2nd Street Roll.

San Pedro Fish Market

This is a little outside of Long Beach, but it’s an experience every seafood lover should have at least once. It’s a big open-air fish market where you can go in, choose your fish, and have it prepared just how you want it, including toppings. If you’re not in the mood to make all of those decisions, there’s also a Fast Food Counter where you can order fish n’ chips, calamari, clam chowder, and more on the go. The next time you feel like seafood, head over the bridge to San Pedro and enjoy an afternoon eating the freshest caught fish or shellfish in the sun with a cold beer and some good companies.

Parker’s Lighthouse

Who doesn’t like enjoying a seafood dinner while overlooking the ocean? Parker’s Lighthouse is a Long Beach staple located at the Pike. Their menu is “inspired by the Pacific,” and that’s made obvious by items like Parker’s Mesquite-Grilled Fresh Fish, Jumbo Seared Georges Bank Scallops, the famous Mariner Platter, and a full Sushi and Sashimi menu. If you’re looking for seafood with a view or entertaining out of town guests who want to be right on the water and wander around cute shops afterward, this may be your spot.

Crab Pot

Home of the “SEAFEAST.” This fun and casual restaurant is known for its giant steamed buckets of seafood that is dumped directly onto the table. If you are craving crab, steamed clams, shrimp, or mussels, or oysters then this is the place for you. Four different steamed buckets to choose from along with traditional favorites like fish & chips, grilled fresh fish, and fish tacos. There are so many options to enjoy while sitting on the upstairs deck overlooking the beautiful Alamitos Bay.

Boathouse on the Bay

Boathouse on the Bay is truly an experience for the senses. Enjoy the breathtaking view of Alamitos Bay that is second to none, especially from the beautiful outdoor patio and fire pit. The open kitchen and wood-fired grill convey a natural feel of an old-time sailing loft and there is always live music. The array of fresh seafood includes muscles, clams, smoked fish,  Chilean Sea Bass, Bay Boat Scallops, Halibut, and Blackened Swordfish. And, don’t forget the raw bar, sushi, and sashimi. So, if you are looking to celebrate a special event or just want to relax at happy hour this might be the spot for you.

76 Fish Grill

This casual spot has some seriously amazing fish dishes. You order at the counter and then sit down at a table and they bring you your food, so it’s not the most “fancy” situation, but it’s delicious. It’s also very family friendly and can accommodate big groups. Get your meal started with the P76 Clam Chowder, choose a Signature Grilled seasonal fish and pick your preparation and side dishes, grab a Signature Bowl like the Shrimp Hipster Bowl, or you can’t go wrong with the Blackened Salmon Tacos either.
