Let your freedom ring! Independence day is almost here and this year marks America’s 245th birthday. Although many popular annual Long Beach activities are already sold out, there are dozens of events happening around the Long Beach and Orange County areas. Whatever you choose to do, show your patriotic spirit and enjoy the day of celebrating our nation!
Red, white, and blue is lighting up the sky this year! With a gentle reminder that fireworks are illegal in the city of Long Beach, there are plenty of safe and stunning alternatives.
July 2nd Lakewood Firework Extravaganza
Beat the crowds! Head up to Lakewood on Friday, July 3rd for a professional aerial firework show. This display will be taking place in 3 locations so Lakewood residents can watch safely from their front yard. Here’s where you can watch the show:

July 3rd Big Bang On The Bay Fireworks
Start your 4th of July celebrations early and watch the Big Bang on the Bay firework display! Even though the official Big Bang on the Bay event at The Boathouse is sold out, you can still see the extravagant fireworks from local beaches and restaurants. This light show can be seen from Naples, The Peninsula, and Alamitos Bay Marina. The display starts at 9:00pm, for more information click here.
July 4th Queensway Bay Firework Show
The firework show in Queensway Bay is the main attraction in Long Beach city. This mesmerizing display can be observed from a few different locations for free:
- Lions Lighthouse for Sight
- Shoreline Village
- Rainbow Harbor
- Marina Green
- The Long Beach Convention & Entertainment Center parking lot

Great American 4th Of July Kids Bike Parade
Justin Rudd is at it again, bringing this Long Beach traditional event back for another year! The annual 4th of July Kids Bike Parade will take place the morning of July 4th at 1 Granada Ave. in Belmont Shore. The festivities will start at 9:40am with a Kids Patriotic Speech contest. The contest is free to enter, and kids must give a patriotic speech no longer than 90 seconds. $10 prizes will be given. Following the speech contest will be the Kids Patriotic Costume Contest at 9:50am. This contest is also free to enter, and 5 finalists will win $10 prizes. At 10am the main event takes place – the bike parade! Though called the Kids Bike Parade, all ages are welcome to participate. For more information, click here!
July 4th Spectacular
If you are in the San Pedro area, head to Cabrillo Beach for the 70th Annual John Olguin July 4th Spectacular! This all-day event is free to attend and is a perfect place to celebrate with the family. Festivities will include music, family games and activities, food trucks, and more. Finish the evening with a spectacular firework display above Cabrillo Beach, starting at 9pm.
Let Freedom Ring Celebration
Join the City of Cerritos for the 48th Annual Let Freedom Ring Celebration! The day’s celebrations will be held at the Cerritos Civic Center beginning at 5pm. The Firework Spectacular will take place at 9pm, be sure to bring a blanket or chairs for the viewing. For more information, click here.
Firecracker Run, Parade, And Fireworks
Over in Anaheim, indulge in a day of fun and festivities this 4th of July. The day’s events start off at 7am at Santa Ana Canyon Road with the Firecracker 5K/10K Run/Walk. After the run, the Yankee Doodle Dog Show starts at 9am, followed by the Patriotic Parade at 1pm. For the afternoon, head to Peralta Canyon Park to enjoy countless vendor booths, food choices, live stage music, and more. Fireworks are back at Disneyland just in time for Independence Day! Enjoy a day filled with Disney magic, leading up to one of the biggest firework displays in Orange County. If you can’t get a reservation or don’t want to buy a ticket, you can always watch the firework display for free from Downtown Disney! The show begins at 9:15p.m. so Disney recommends showing up early (possibly 2-3 hours early) for a good spot.
4th Of July Celebration
Surf City, USA is known every year as one of the most popular places to celebrate the 4th of July. This 4th, there is an entire day of festivities planned to celebrate the holiday. Start the day with the Surf City 5k Run from 6:30am – 12:00pm. At 8am, the annual Independence Day Parade will take place – the largest Independence Day parade west of the Mississippi River! After the parade, the festivities continue at the Pier with live entertainment, family activities, food, and more. The night will conclude with the fireworks display, which will begin at 9pm.
